Bonnie Lou Briggs

February 2, 1932 — August 12, 2024

Preston, ID

Our loving, kind, and courageous mother, Bonnie Lou Briggs, has left this life on August 12th, at the age of 92, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Preston, ID, to be with her sons John Bradley Briggs and Jeffrey Lee Briggs.

Bonnie was born in Paris, Ohio, to John and Josephine (Graviera) Hewitt. She was the fourth and final child in the family.

She grew up in some of the best times, enjoying music, singing in the choir, and being in the spotlight during many musical engagements. Her hound dog "bounce" would be waiting for her to get home from school while he kept many a Coon treed for her. After graduation, she received a Dental Nurse Certificate.

Bonnie later met Glenn LeRoy Briggs, married, and had three children together. John (J.B), Jeff, and Cherie. They later moved to Tucson, AZ, in 1959 and divorced in 1965.

Bonnie Lou and her children traveled to and lived in many places all over the U.S. over the years after leaving Tucson and finally settled in the Bear Lake area of Georgetown and Nounan, ID, in 1970.

Bonnie Lou worked hard to provide for her children and faced many adversities during that time.  Even through the toughest of times, she went on with a smile and a positive attitude.

Bonnie Lou was a "Jack of all trades," having expertise in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Restaurant and Bar ownership, and crew dispatching for the Union Pacific Railroad for 25 years. She was well respected by her many co-workers. If you knew her, the first thing you would see was her beautiful smile, and then you realized her quiet wit. She loved traveling, music, and dancing throughout her life.  Her greatest joy was being with family and enjoying grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Lou's family will celebrate her life and legacy in a manner that honors her loving spirit and enthusiasm for life. We will remember her positive outlook on life and the warmth she showed to all of her family and friends.

Bonnie Lou is survived by her daughter Cherie Briggs Dimick and husband Steve; daughter-in-law Marlen Humphreys (Jerry); grandchildren Beau, Chance, Jamie, Heidi, Emily, Cody, Amber, and Jessie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm August 24, 2024, at the home of Steve and Cherie Dimick, 315 W 1st N, Preston, ID. All family and friends are invited to attend.
