Kevin D Carter

March 21, 1957 — December 13, 2022

Kevin D. Carter, 65, of Riverdale, Idaho passed away at his home Tuesday, December 13, 2022, holding the hand of his wife as he took his last breath. Kevin was born March 21, 1957, in Preston, Idaho. He was the only son of Don and Irene Carter.

Kevin spent all his years in Riverdale, Idaho on a beautiful cattle ranch along the Bear River which he owned and operated at the time of his death. Kevin was a 1975 Preston High graduate. He served an honorable mission in Columbus, Ohio for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He attended Utah State University and BYU. He married Julie Anderson Carter on March 15, 1985, in the Logan LDS Temple. He was completely satisfied with the simple things in life. Kevin and Julie spent their time making memories raising cattle and working by each other's side. Kevin was a cattle rancher and farmer his whole life. He will always be remembered for the hard work he did tirelessly each day.

Kevin was often asked by other men how he runs his ranch like he does being the main worker with so much work to do. Stamina, endurance, never complaining, and always looking for the positive is how he did it. Kevin worked up to the day before his cancer diagnosis on November 17, 2022. Each spring and fall Kevin enjoyed the time he spent working cattle with his family and a special group of cowboys and cowgirls who he loved and appreciated. Kevin was a man that could fix anything. He was precise with everything he did. He truly had a heart of gold. His sweet and mild demeanor always made him a good listener and in return, he gave valued advice. Kevin loved the beauty of the earth. He always commented on how fortunate he was to live in the beautiful Riverdale Valley and always took notice of a pretty sunset. He often said how blessed he was to have a nice warm home to come into on a cold winter’s night after feeding.

Kevin was a very humble, honest, and kind man. He always said, “I don’t need big trips or fancy things to make me happy. Everything I have is right here, my kids, grandkids, and wife.” He loved and adored each of his four children and two

son-in-laws. He never was a prideful man but he was so very proud of his family. When his children were small, he loved taking them on the tractor. He always tried to instill a lesson of how to treat other people with kindness and not judge. Kevin had a quick wit and a very jovial demeanor to his quiet side. Many memories will never be forgotten when reminiscing on all the funny, quirky things Kevin would say and do to put a smile on a face and to make his family laugh. He will always be our angel and protector.

He is survived by his wife Julie Anderson Carter and his four children Kristen (Tyler) Schvaneveldt, Melissa Carter, Alexandra (Rylee) Hobbs, Landon Carter, his grandkids Cash, Crew Jewel, and Arrow Schvaneveldt and Charlie, Remi, and Willow Hobbs as well as his in-laws Daryl and Gloria P. Anderson, his sisters Debbie (Blake) Willis and Bette (John) Garfield, brother-in-law T. Gary (Pamela) Anderson and sister-in-law Christene (Michael) Nelson. He is proceeded in death by his parents Don and Irene Carter and father-in-law Thomas F. Anderson.

A visitation will be held at the Riverdale Church House Monday, December 19, 2022, from 10-11:30 AM with funeral services following at 12 noon. The interment will be at the Riverdale Cemetery.
