Lyle Glade Goodsell

February 1, 1956 — May 31, 2024

Preston, ID

Lyle Glade Goodsell, (The Chief) 68, of Preston, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, surrounded by his family. Lyle was born February 1, 1956, to Elva Baker Goodsell and Roger Walter Goodsell. He was born and raised in the Logan, Utah, area along with his eight loving siblings. One of his favorite childhood stories was how he was so tough as a child that he was only allowed to wrestle the coach.
On June 15, 1973, Lyle married the love of his life, Susan Hansen, in Preston, Idaho. After many years of trials, hard work, and determination, Lyle and Susan were sealed in the Logan, Utah, temple on June 15, 2010.  Lyle was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching others about Jesus Christ, The Plan of Salvation, and how families can be together forever. He also looked forward to singing in the ward choir each Sunday.
Over the years, Lyle worked a variety of trades. In his younger years, he was a heavy equipment operator, worked on the railroad, was a welder at Walton Trailers, and did masonry work. In his later years, he drove a truck. He was forever a lover of farming and caring for his farm animals by warming them special meals on holidays. Enjoyment was also found in the outdoors, both leather and woodworking. Many hours were spent reminiscing about how the world used to be. His all time favorite activity was to leave love notes. He had the sweetest notes and drawings of hearts all over the home and farm for not only Susan but his whole family. Lyle found great joy in making people happy and often would stop the vehicle to pick Susan wildflowers.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Susan. His children Jennifer (Jeremy) Stone of Fairview, ID; Jacyn (Nicole) Goodsell of Preston, ID; Jim (Stacy) Goodsell of Preston, ID; Janita (Daniel) Bartholomew of Preston, ID; Jineal (Christopher) Pitkin of Preston, ID; Jeana (Daniel) Mayne of Soda Springs, ID; Jeramiah (Courtnie) Goodsell of Preston, ID. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren,  3 great-grandchildren, 7 siblings, along with many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger & Elva Goodsell; his son, John Goodsell; a brother, Vaughn Goodsell; and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all of those who helped care for Lyle, including the Willow Valley and Franklin County Medical staff, including all the EMS, Doctors, nurses, and therapists.
