Myra Lynn McCain 69 passed away at Logan Regional Hospital, Logan UT. April 1, 2022, surrounded by family. Myra was born November 1, 1952, in Gary, Indiana to parents William Flynn McCain and Esther Evanelle Davis McCain.
Myra was always the diligent big sister to Marla Louise and Melinda Lee. Myra grew up in Merrillville, Indiana. In July 1969 at the age of 16, her family moved to San Diego, California. Myra was always interested in science, social issues, being able to exercise her civil right to vote and enjoy freedom, and the right to free speech. When the voting age was lowered to 18, she was one of the first in line to register. Myra's diligent search for religious truth led her to find The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for herself and her family. Myra had a testimony immediately and knew she would become a missionary spreading the restored gospel message and achieved that goal by being called to the Ohio West Virginia Mission field. Myra continued her entire life to share her testimony with others. Myra loved serving the youth and helping them to know of the Savior's love for them. Myra had many adventures throughout her life, moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Des Moines, Iowa, and Butte, Montana. Never shying away from any challenge placed before her. She enjoyed strong friendships everywhere she lived and especially enjoyed helping the missionaries teach the restored truths of the Savior. Myra was ahead of her generation and had strong convictions about the abilities and opportunities for women pushing the boundaries for work and education and exceeding the limits.
Myra took an active interest in her niece's and nephews' lives. Enriching each one of their lives as much as she could. Giving counsel and advice as their aunt to encourage and help direct them towards positive choices.
Myra is survived by her two sisters Marla L. McCain (Dean -deceased), Logan UT. Melinda L. Painter, (Daniel - deceased) Hyrum UT. nephews- Willis McCain (Michelle), Warren Carrisoza, Preston Painter (Emily), Flynn Painter (Casey), Lewis Painter (Nicki), Andrew Painter. nieces- Wendy Carrisoza, Wynell Kopchak (Stefan), Mariah Petersen (Kieth), Sarah Maw (Nate).
