Scott Denzil Baird

November 8, 1961 — January 17, 2025

Logan, UT

Scott Denzil Baird, born on November 8, 1961, in Ogden, Utah, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, in Logan, Utah, after a brave fight with brain cancer. He was a beloved son, husband, brother, uncle, father, and friend whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Raised in Brigham City, Utah, Scott was the son of Denzil Bennett Baird of Mink Creek, Idaho, and Dorothy Atkinson Baird of Franklin, Idaho. He moved to Logan in 1997.

Scott devoted 36 years as a Collision Repair Technician at Wolford Collision Repair. His incredible technical skills not only defined his professional life, but also showcased his natural ability as a jack of all trades, a true artist and genius with cars - and so many other projects. Scott had an unmatched penchant for problem-solving which made him a go-to person for friends and family alike. He had a remarkable capacity for generosity, always stepping forward to lend a hand or share his talents and knowledge.

He was a proud graduate of Box Elder High School and went on to attend Utah State University, where he graduated in Computer Science.

Two words summarize Scott best: Genuine and Authentic.

Scott's warm spirit was characterized by his realness and honesty. He was a quiet yet friendly soul, endowed with a great sense of humor that could light up any room. His unabashed boldness allowed him to enter the world without fear and take risks that many would shy away from. He had a unique ability to command attention, not through grandeur, but by being genuinely engaging and present. Every weekend, he could reliably be found working away at his shop, or on projects at home, or off visiting family.

He had a deep love for cooking, classic cars, and the great outdoors, which were just some of the many passions that filled his life with joy. Scott created treasured memories around campfires with family and friends, sharing laughter and stories that will forever echo in their hearts. whether it was remodeling a home or taking joy rides on his motorcycle amidst the breathtaking mountain landscapes surrounding Cache Valley.

Scott's proudest accomplishments were rooted in the love he had for his family and the strong bond he shared with his spouse, Edward [Eddie] Van Quinlan, with whom he spent 29 loving years. He was fiercely devoted to his beloved parents, Denzil and Dorothy Baird. He cared for his kids, Kloee and Kage, great niece and nephew siblings who joined the Scott and Ed family around the time each was starting their 4th grade; and exchange students Sofia Ploner (Sterzing, Italy), Eduardo Molteni (Alzate Brianza, Italy), Eduardo Viola (Rome, Italy), and Alexander Varga (Viborg, Denmark). The group would refer to themselves as the Bailan Clan, taking the first three letters from Scott's last name and the last three letters from Ed's. The couple loved their Celtic heritage and enjoyed their trip to Ireland and Scotland among their extensive travels. Scott celebrated this pride with the Griffin, a symbol from the family crest, and would often show up to events and gatherings wearing one of his many kilts.

He leaves behind a large family, including his mother, his sisters, Susan (Ken Sutton) and Debbie (Mark Heaton); his brother, Bruce Wood; as well as his Quinlan family, including Grant (Julie) Quinlan, Tresa (Andrew Hansen), Suzette (Don Heater), Derick (DyAnn) Quinlan, Troy (Rini) Quinlan, Jennilyn (Lane McKinnon), and Aaron (Liz) Barrett. Scott cherished each of his 60 nieces and nephews, 90 great-nieces and -nephews, and 2 great-great-nieces and -nephews, whose lives he touched with love and support. Being an uncle was one of his most cherished roles in life.

Scott treated his fur-babies like children. They include the dogs Anya, Sasha, Griz, Gertrude, and Mollie who are playing eternal fetch. And Ciccio, Muncie, Daisy, Kristof, and the cat Willard.

Scott's legacy includes his late father, Denzil Bennett Baird, and siblings Cassie Wood and Trudy Quinlan Barrett, as well as his niece Candace Mosser and great-nephew Colton Mosser. They will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved them.

Scott was actively engaged in several communities, typically tied to his love for classic cars and motorcycles, Ed's franchisee group, and Pride groups. He quickly made lasting friendships everywhere he went.

He met Ed in 1996 while Scott was a wrecker driver and came to Ed's rescue. The two became immediate friends and quickly fell in love. They were married in 2013 in Laguna Beach, California. Over 29 years together, Scott and Ed successfully built a relationship full of joy, respect, gratitude, and love.

Celtic wake gatherings are being coordinated to celebrate and honor his rich heritage. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11 am at the St. John's Episcopal Church located at 85 E 100 N, Logan, Utah.
