Troy David Burbank, born on November 9, 1964, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, in Preston, Idaho, surrounded by his devoted family after a courageous battle with cancer. Troy leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, generosity, and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.
Throughout his life, Troy demonstrated a remarkable work ethic, beginning his career at Presto Products, where he met the love of his life, Diane. Their partnership would be a cornerstone in his life, with Troy later transitioning into construction, skillfully building houses. His career journey also took him to the oil fields of Texas, where he embraced the challenges of the industry.
Those who were fortunate enough to know him will forever treasure the memories crafted during sunrises spent with fishing rods in hand, the laughter echoing amid fishing trips, fond memories of hunting excursions with his father, brothers, uncles, and sons, camping excursions, and weekends spent golfing with family and friends. He enjoyed attending car races in Las Vegas with his father and brothers, creating lasting memories filled with joy and excitement.
Troy was an avid outdoorsman, frequently tying flies and indulging his passion for woodworking—hobbies that reflect the care and creativity he poured into all areas of his life.
He was known not only for his talents but also for the warmth and patience he exhibited as a caretaker to his wife, Diane, during her battle with Alzheimer’s. His devotion and love were evident, traits that enriched the lives of those around him.
Troy often told us not to wait for the perfect time to go and enjoy the things we want to do in life because that perfect time may never come. This quote sums that up perfectly. "There'll Never Be a Perfect Time Because You'll Never be Totally Ready. The biggest injustice you can do for yourself is to sit on the sidelines and wait for the perfect time to arrive—the right time for you to start doing what it is you want to do and create what it is you want to create is now."
Troy is survived by his mother, Nayda Burbank; children Michael Burbank (Amanda), Tyson Burbank, Richard Zoellner (Amy), Peggy Golightly (Justin); siblings Bret Burbank, Chris Burbank, and Melanie Olsen (Scott); father-in-law James Vanderpool; along with eight beloved grandchildren and three cherished great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Diana Burbank; father, Lyle Burbank; and mother-in-law, Phyliss Vanderpool. As we remember Troy David Burbank, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by the love he shared, the adventures he pursued, and the indelible impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
