Versal "Brent" Davis, 85, of Preston, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, after suffering from several years from Lewy Body Dementia, at The Gables of North Logan memory care facility.
Brent was born in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Versal and Thelma Davis. Brent was second in a family of eight children - LaVel, Brent, Brian, Twila, Tami, Lauris, Debbie, and Duane. He graduated from Logan High School and went on to the military. He served in the United States Army for several years, including in Hawaii and Okinawa, Japan. He also served on a mission to Switzerland of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he met his future wife, Inge, a native of Germany. They were married in 1963 and had two children, Estelle and Allan. Brent & Inge have six grandchildren - Connor, Noah, and Shelby Ritchie, and Marinda, Katrina, and Allison Davis. They have also had many beloved pets in their family throughout their marriage of over 60 years.
Along the way, Brent completed a bachelor's degree in Geography at the University of Utah. He also went on to complete a Master of Arts Degree in Geography from Indiana University. Despite his science degrees, Brent spent most of his career as a business & accounting manager for several different organizations. Brent was a prolific writer and wrote and self-published several books. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Logan's Herald Journal newspaper for several years, creating the Business to Business journal section, for which he won an award from the Cache Chamber of Commerce and the State of Utah for Best Small Business Journalist. Brent's favorite hobbies in retirement were writing, fishing, fossil hunting, and hanging out with his dogs and cats.
A graveside service with Military rites will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the Logan City Cemetery.
